We ACCEPT all the following books, except as noted, and usually have them on hand for you to take:
- K-12 textbooks: Science, Math, Social Studies, Language Arts, Reading, Literature, Drama, Art, Music, Foreign Languages, Vocational Ed
- K-12 library books, fiction and non-fiction (i.e. children/youth reading and classical literature)
- Early childhood picture books and readers
- New, unused student workbooks
- Teachers’ editions
- Teachers’ resource books and manuals
- National Geographic magazines (not too many – ask first, please)
- Encyclopedias, complete sets ONLY and published within the last 10 years (no annual yearbooks, please)
- Dictionaries and other reference books
- College and graduate-level texts published after 2001
We CANNOT TAKE any of these:
- No paperbacks except for children/youth reading and classical literature in excellent condition or recently-published (after 2001) textbooks
- No ordinary fiction or non-fiction you just cleared out of your garage
- No “coffee-table” books
- No folders full of tests, lesson plans, student activities, worksheets
- No encyclopedias more than 10 years old
- No encyclopedia annual yearbooks, even those published since 10 years ago
- No magazines except National Geographics
- No self-improvement or “how-to” money-making books
- No diet/health fad, no gardening, no almanacs, no real estate, no law books
- No books about TV, movies, military, no pornography, no terror or joke books
- No video tapes, no filmstrips, no audio visual or computer equipment
- No college or graduate level texts published before 2001
(Basically, we are looking for books appropriate for children and students through Grade 12.)
